Jun 11 Kristiansand, Norway

 Jun 11  Kristiansand, Norway

Sunny, 22°-23° A perfect day!

Today our tour takes us to Lillesand, a town up the east coast of Norway from Kristiansand. After breakfast we boarded the sightseeing boat to cruise among the islands.  There are  over 1000 islands in the archipelago. It’s interesting how there are similar geographic features in different parts of the world!  Today it was again much like Georgian Bay or the 1000 Islands out of Gananoque!  This area is where the Norwegians have their summer properties. The scenery was wonderful and the day was glorious!

After the cruise we spent an hour or so in Lillesand.  It is a picturesque town on the east coast of Norway.  Mary did the walking tour with the guide while I sat by the water basking in the lovely sunshine and watching the boats come and go from the little harbour. The guide mentioned that they get 260 days of sunshine per year!

We didn’t get back until almost 2:00, so had a  quick lunch before one of us just closed her eyes for a minute… or two… or 60!!!!

Dinner was fabulous!  Carminiere hit the spot!  Starting with Roasted Garlic Soup for Mary and Shrimp Cocktail for Dorothy, followed by English Garden Salad for both of us.  The main course was Calf’s Liver with Bacon and Onions for Dorothy and Coq au Vin for Mary. New York Cheesecake with Strawberries topped it all off!

The show was Rock Opera!  It was very entertaining; the costumes and choreography in the production shows are always amazing.

Back to our room where we were gloating a little as we thought of all the people starting to pick their bags!  I know our turn will come, but for now it’s nice to know we have more time aboard the ship and lots of sights to see!

Stay tuned!

The Happy Travellers

  3. Looks like a beautiful spot. Seems that this cruise stops at some different ports. And the weather temps are perfect.
