Jun 1 - Day at sea
Our first day at sea taking us to Skagen, Denmark.
It should be easy to re-orient ourselves as we sailed on the Sky Princess in January. We were spoiled in January having a mini suite! We have noticed how much smaller our cabin is this time! In fact it seems even smaller than balcony cabins on other Princess ships; it’s as if they cut off about 6” from each wall! I swear the bathroom is only three feet square - with the shower stall a similar size to one side! Or in other words bathroom is minuscule - definitely no room to swing a cat!!!!
I find the layout in the buffet a bit frustrating. Food is set out in several different areas stretching from one end of the seating area to the other. There is so much walking to get from one room to the other looking at the choices. On other ships usually the food stations are all in one area so you can walk past and decide to take an item, or keep going to find something you fancy.
One of us usually finds a table and waits while the other goes in search of food. Today I only had soup for lunch and I was long finished before Mary got back with her food!
In the afternoon Mary went to a presentation by a Veteran of the Falklands War which she found interesting. I went to the shore excursions desk to get more information about how I would manage with my walker on the tours we have chosen. We’ll see how it works with so many cobblestone streets and canal boats; the first test will be in Copenhagen on Tuesday.
It will soon be time to get showered for dinner - the first of two ‘formal’ nights. I’m not sure if lobster is on the menu!….
No lobster tonight! We started off with Lump Crab Cakes followed by Caesar Salad. Then came the main course - delicious Beef Tenderloin.
Dessert was Caramel Turtle Cheesecake for Mary and Chocolate Hazelnut Slice for Dorothy, and to top it all off - Amaretto Coffee!!
The show was called Spotlight Bar and was a playlist of songs described this way… The show is designed to evoke the spirit of a neighborhood bar, where people connect and share stories through music. It features a cast of talented performers who bring each story to life with song and dance. The show is known for its fun, energetic atmosphere and the ability to create a sense of camaraderie among guests.
We lose an hour tonight as we put our clocks ahead one hour, making us 6
hours ahead of home time.
Until tomorrow…

Well you can see why Phil just keeps getting bigger cabins. They are shrinking. 😂 The buffet layout doesn’t sound very efficient. And I hope you are managing well with your walker. So challenging in some of these places.
ReplyDeleteI’ve had some challenges, but couldn’t be here without the walker!
