Off we go! Our driver picked us up a few minutes before 8:00 AM and we were at the airport exactly one hour later. We breeeeeeezed through check-in before the Gate had even been posted!
Where are all the lines they were talking about? Because we order wheelchair assistance, there were only a couple of people ahead of us to get through the security check, so once again, we got through without any trouble! And now we wait for our plane.
We had a bit of a delay leaving, but after a smooth flight we arrived in Calgary around 3:15. And then things took a bit of a turn!
We had to wait for almost an hour for someone to push the wheelchairs!! The attendants said they were not expecting it to be so busy today, but it was! Thankfully we waited it out because it must have been 10 miles (well, maybe not quite 10 miles!!) to where we had to claim our luggage and I never could have walked it - and even Mary who is used to walking, thought it would have been too much! By the time we got to the baggage claim our two bags were the only ones riding the carousel!!
They dumped us (almost literally!) at Door #2 - but the taxis line up at Door #9…another 5 mile walk! Finally we were on our way to our hotel, arriving at 5:30 PM. We are staying at the Delta Inn and Suites in downtown Calgary.
For some reason (excitement maybe!) we both woke up long before daylight so it has been a long day. We have just returned from a quick dinner here in the hotel, and are getting settled in for the night. Wake up call ordered for 6:00 AM
We are ready to begin our adventure! Tomorrow should be more interesting to read as we begin our tour here in Calgary and travel to Banff.
